Singlet Servo DCC Accessory Decoder

Still available but not reccomended for new users

Control a turnout or semaphore with 2 positions using the Singlet, a servo controller with built-in DCC decoder for controlling a single servo.  The classic Singlet has many options for setting up and controlling tunrouts, semaphores, gates and other animation projects where 2 precise positions are needed.  If you want a simple turnout control that is plug and play, look at the Micro Singlet.

Skill Level: Advanced - requires programming to use - for simple installation and setup use the Micro Singlet

Singlet II Servo DCC Accessory Decoder

The simplest and quickest way to get servos up and running on your layout.  Features an integrated controller/programmer/DCC decoder/power supply and servo driver in a tiny 1.25" x 1.25" board.  Comes with a servo and a servo extension cord -  simply plug in the servo and connect the unit to your DCC power bus and the wiring is finished.  The board mounts behind your fascia through holes drilled using the drilling template.  The servo endpoints are set using a unique automatic endpoint adjustment.  You can also use the buttons to set or fine-tune the endpoints as well as setting the LED colors.  The DCC address is easily set by holding both buttons and then sending an accessory command.  The unit memorizes the address.  The unit can be used without the DCC on DC layouts by using an AC or DC power supply.

Besides turnouts, the singlet can be used with servos to animate semaphores, crossing gates and other items on your layout.

Bi-Color LEDs - Gives you full control of the indication color for each track.  Each LED can be set to one of 4 colors - red, green, yellow (red and green on simultaneously) and dark(off) for each position.  For example you can indicate the open track with green and the closed track with red, or you could use green/yellow, or you can have the open track be green and the closed track be dark.  Any combination is possible - it is up to you!

AutoAlign Feature -  The new singlet can find the servo endpoints on its own, they no longer have to be programmed with the buttons.  By setting the Align jumper, the singlet will start at the center position and slowly seek to both ends until it finds resistance from the stock rails.  At this point it backs off slightly and remembers the position.  The algorithm has been carefully tuned to work with both standard and SG90 servos and with hinged point and solid point turnouts.  Works great with the mounting kit.  It will also work with other devices as long as there is a hard stop at both positions.
The singlet can still be programmed with the buttons if for some reason the AutoAlign does not find the desired positions.

Remote Relay - Add the remote relay to use for routing frog power, for adding feedback to signaling systems, or for trackside indicator lights.  Choose either SPDT or DPDT.  The relays use the same extension cords as the servos for simple wiring.

New in v2 (July 2011 and later) -Programming buttons can be locked out with a jumper to prevent accidental programming be leaning on the buttons.  Auto-align current setpoint can be changed with a CV (CV50).

LEDs are bicolors even though they appear yellow in this picture. No servo included.
Singlet II Servo Decoder
Does not include servo. Includes PC board with control.programming buttons, mounting screw and instructions. To control a turnout we reccomend you also get the SRW001 SwitchWright bracket (see below) and an SG90 or similar type servo. Another servo that works well is the Hitc HS-311, which is a standard size servo, good for animation projects and large scale applications.

SSD002  $17.95 USD
Qty 5-9  $16.15 USD
Qty 10+ $14.36 USD

Note LEDS are bicolor red/green in the kit same as the factory assembled unit.
Singlet II Servo Decoder Kit
Includes the PC board but without the LED and pushbuttons mounted. Includes 2 5mm bi-color LEDs and 2 pushbuttons loose and ready to mount as you wish.  This lets you remotely install LEDs or pushbuttons to integrate into your own style of control panel.  There are alternate inputs you can take advantage of in the kit.  These inputs will accept either a toggle switch or a single pushbutton (each push alternates the points).  You need to be comfortable with soldering to assemble the kit.
SSD006  $15.95 USD

Qty 10+  $12.76

Singlet II Servo Decoder with Servo

Comes with a singlet board, a miniature servo (same one as on the servos and accessories page), and a 12" servo extension.  Combined with the cord on the servo the extension allows you to mount the singlet about 18" from the servo.

SSD001  $21.95

Made of precision 1/8" thick laser-cut acrylic, these mounts can be used to neatly mount your Singlets. Simply use a 1-3/8" hole saw to place on your fascia. The four included screws hold it securely in place and the recess keeps the button safely out of the way of bellies. The dark plastic makes the LEDs stand out. Comes as a kit that includes the 2 pieces and 4 screws. The pieces can be easily glued together with solvent designed for acrylic such as Weldon 3 or epoxy. (MEK and other styrene glues will NOT work). Just put the pieces together and flow a small amount of solvent on with a brush. Can be spray-painted a different color or used as is. Parts are laser cut by Monster Model Works.
Size 1.5" x 1.5" x 1/4" deep (without parts mounted).  The singlet will stick out a bit to one side so take this into account when mounting several units together.
FMS001 $3.50USD MSRP

Remote DPDT Relay Board
This remote relay plugs in to the breakout daughter board (below) and gives you two circuits for powering frogs, signals and so forth.  Board has a 12V, 2A hi-sensitivity relay that draws just 23 mA, relay drive circuitry, and a terminal block for easy wiring.  Can also be used without the Quad - red wire, 12V, black wire, ground, white wire, signal (0V = OFF, greater than 1.4V is ON).  Comes with a 12" extension cord - extra length can be added with servo extensions.
See diagram below for frog wiring instructions.
Does not work with Micro Singlet. For Singlet II only

Remote SPDT 10 A Relay Board
This remote relay plugs in to the breakout daughter board (below) and gives you one high-power circuit for powering frogs, signals and so forth.  Board has a 12V, 10A hi-sensitivity relay that draws just 30 mA, relay drive circuitry, and a terminal block for easy wiring.  Can also be used without the Quad - red wire, 12V, black wire, ground, white wire, signal (0V = OFF, greater than 1.4V is ON).  Comes with a 12" extension cord - extra length can be added with servo extensions.

How to use RDR001 to power a frog.
Video of Singlet Decoder including programming the endpoints and the DCC address as well as how to prepare the servo.

Note: since this video was made I have added the ability to change the speed of the servo and set the LED colors.  After programming the endpoints the colors of the LEDs can then be set and after that the LEDs will flash alternately and in this mode you can change the speed of the servo from a dead crawl to very fast.
