About UsTam Valley Depot was established by Duncan McRee who has been building model railroads since he was 14. In 2008, Duncan decided to share the boards and controllers he originally designed for his own use with other model railroaders. All products continue to be researched and developed on Duncan's HO Tam Valley Railroad layout.
We are a small family business run son Kevin with help from Duncan and his wife Janice and are commited to supporting the model railroad community.
All boards are hand-built in San Diego, CA by Frank, Alisa and Kevin with you, the model railroader, in mind.
Duncan continues to push the field, exploring and supporting the use of dead rail systems and bringing in components he used when he was building and flying model planes. As a result, Duncan was awarded the Bertie Award for Innovation by the listeners of ModelRail Radio twice, in both 2012 and 2014.

Please understand that at busy times, Duncan may need to divide his time between ensuring the boards are made and responding to emails. Questions about purchases you have made or products delivered take priority because we take customer service seriously. After all, as fellow model railroaders, you are part of our community. Since everything is hand assembled things may take a bit more time and we appreciate your patience as we work to meet your needs.
FUN FACTS
Tam Valley Depot is named after the town Duncan grew up in.
Our boards are individually hand-built in a small workshop Duncan desgined and built to look like a train depot.
We have one HO scale railroad that runs through the bedrooms in our house (passing through the wall between rooms). The line runs from Sausalito, California up through Donner Pass in the Sierras to Truckee, Nevada.
We have another HO scale railroad in an outside workshop that is regularly used for operating sessions and testing Tam Valley Depot products. This railroad is a model of the Southern Pacific from Roseville, California to Truckee, Nevada. (Yes, we love this area of the country)
As a small business, we appreciate both your loyalty and support. We also are a family with three children and as such may not be immediately able to respond to you late in the evenings or on weekends.
